Federal General Holidays (Canada Labour Code)

Employees of federally regulated employers, such as banks, airlines, railways and telecom companies, get these 10 general holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Easter Monday and the Civic Holiday are days off for the federal public service, but they are not on that list.

Quebec: Good Friday or Easter Monday

Quebec has 8 statutory holidays. For Easter, the employer chooses whether the paid holiday is Good Friday or Easter Monday. Quebec’s other holidays are New Year’s Day, National Patriots’ Day, June 24 (Fête nationale), Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Newfoundland and Labrador Government Holidays

Newfoundland and Labrador also has these provincial government holidays, observed on the nearest Monday. Whether private-sector employees get them off depends on their employer.
