What we collect
Calculations run entirely in your browser. The shift times, breaks and rates you type are processed on your device and are not transmitted to our server for calculator processing or persistence. Some calculators save your entries in your browser’s local storage — not a cookie, and not sent anywhere — so a refresh or an accidental tab close doesn’t erase what you typed; a “Clear saved data” button on each calculator removes it. This is separate from ordinary website delivery: like any site, your browser does request the page, its styling and the calculator’s code from our server — that’s how the page loads at all — but the entries you type into the calculator are never part of that traffic. There are no user accounts on this site.
Calculations and share links
Not yet available. If a “share this calculation” link is ever offered on this site, the figures will be encoded in the link itself, after the # symbol — a part of the URL browsers never send to any server.
Embedded calculator
Other websites can show our calculator in a frame. It runs from sumhours.com in your browser, with no analytics and no cookies, and what you enter is not saved or sent to us or to that website. Our host may log the request, including which website’s page loaded it, as it does for any page.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand website usage, such as page visits, traffic sources and how visitors interact with the site. GA4 may process online identifiers and technical information about your device or browser; we do not use it to store the times, breaks or hourly rates you enter into our calculators. Google signals data collection is currently turned off. Our GA4 property currently has event data retention set to 2 months and user data retention set to 14 months, with user-data retention reset on new activity. These GA4 retention settings apply to the data categories covered by those settings and do not describe every type of aggregated analytics report or data held by Google. For details on Google’s handling of data, see Google’s Privacy Policy. Our website also uses a cookie-consent tool; where a cookie-preferences control is available, you can use it to manage your choices.
Requesting deletion
You do not need an account to use the calculators, and you can remove saved calculator entries from your own browser using the calculator’s “Clear saved data” control. For questions or requests concerning analytics data, contact details submitted by email, or other personal information that may be processed in connection with this website, please contact us using the contact page. We will review requests as applicable; some data may be held by service providers or subject to legal retention requirements.
Future features
Any future AI-assisted parsing or screenshot-import feature will get its own privacy policy update before it launches.
